Coaching
Introduction
A rowing club's success can usually be directly related to the number and quality of its coaches. Exeter Rowing Club is fortunate to have a large number of active coaches most of whom either have ARA qualifications or have extensive experience gained from rowing at national and international level. Would-be coaches are actively encouraged to take Coach Education Awards and the club will provide financial support to those who are prepared to put something back into the club. We are fortunate at Exeter to have a member acting as the West Region's representative on the National Coaching Committee so we are always kept up to date with National strategies and developments. We also have one of the only Coach Educators in the Region which means any UKCC Level 2 or Level 3 courses are most likely to be held at Exeter - good news for any of our members wanting to qualify.
Coaches Sub Committee
A few years ago a Coaches Forum was formed to allow coaches to exchange ideas and share good practise. As the group grew in number it started to take on responsibilities for deciding on club matters such as the requirements for new equipment purchases and would report to the Management Committee. This sub committee has been responsible for introducing many new beneficial facets to the club such as budgets for Coach Education and High Performance Athlete support. Anyone who coaches at the club is encouraged to be part of the sub committee to help shape the future of rowing at Exeter
So if you have an interest in coaching, whether you've rowed before or not, Exeter will welcome you with open arms and provide the framework for you to progress in this most rewarding aspect or our sport
